Life Lessons and Goals

Hello.
It's nice to meet you.
You seem like an interesting person.  Care for a chat?  Cool.

My name is Joel Sexton.  I'm a geek...on many fronts.  I'm a family man and an American.

Over the years, I've learned some things:
  • Trading time for money sucks
  • Specialization = limitation
  • Why > How
  • You pick your worldview or one is picked for you
  • Coding in Java is like punching yourself in face
  • You can't leave a legacy without freedom
  • Possible is relative, as is impossible
That's not a summation of my knowledge, but it does hit some of the high points.  My personal journey has taught me a number of lessons.  Some I've learned the easy way, but many have been more first-person.

I want every step that I take to lead me towards a my goals.  Some of these are:
  • A deeper walk with God
  • A stronger connection and relationship with my family
  • A healthy body so that I won't be a burden on others
  • A legacy left for others
  • Diversified passive income stream
  • More knowledge and wisdom
Keeping these goals in focus is the way to achieve them.  My daily challenge is to stay focused on the goals.

What are some things you have learned in your life?  What are some of your goals that you are trying to achieve?
